We hope you send your child(ren) to camp with us this summer! It will be fun!

The State of Connecticut Office of Early Childhood has set forth guidelines that municipal camps must follow including limiting camp size and enhanced health practices in order to limit the spread of Covid-19.

Therefore, the camp is limited to 40 total campers per week, with 2 groups of 20 campers each; masks are recomended when inside but when utilizing outdoor space, no masks will be required. Presently, the staff is required to wear masks around the campers,

No off site field trips will be taken until groups can be safely transported by bus.

Campers will be asked a series of health related questions by the staff upon arrival to camp prior to exiting their vehicles such as ‘how are you feeling today?” ,“Do you have a cough? A headache?” . Any camper found to not be feeling well will not be allowed to enter camp.** The camper will have to see a doctor and be symptom free in order to be cleared to return to camp for the remainder of the week. If the child is discovered to be Covid positive, then he/she will not be allowed to return to camp for at least 10 days after symptoms appeared or until symptom free. A doctor’s note will be required in that case. Should a child be found to be Covid positive after the first day of camp, then all campers within that child’s assigned group will be notified and might be asked to leave camp until they are cleared by a doctor to return. DR P & R will confer with the local health department for guidance if there is a positive Covid case at camp.

**So, we are pleading with parents to self-report any sickness and to not send their child if they are feeling ill, have a headache, fever or cough**

General Camp Information: The camp will be based at DRES and Plattwood Park.  Camp will be held RAIN or SHINE. At each location, campers will be divided into 2 groups of 20. Dedicated staff will be assigned to each group. Campers will remain in their groups throughout the week. Siblings will be placed together. Groups will rotate between activites with staff will practice enhanced cleaning of all equipment and supplies. The assignment to groups will be random, but done by age in most cases. You may indicate on your registration form if your child would like to be placed with a particular friend and we will do our best to accommodate an individual’s request. However, due to the constraints already placed on the camp program it is highly unlikely that all requests will be fulfilled.

Swimming will be an activity offered while the camp is at Plattwood. Due to the shortage of lifeguards, camp personnel will be assigned to serve as waterfront staff when campers are swimming or near the water.  If you prefer your child not swim when there is no posted lifeguard, please indicate that at camper drop off or send an email or include a note with your camp registration.

The camp will meet on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Plattwood Park  (weather permitting) and at DRES on Tuesday and Thursday.
