To celebrate the event's 40th year, the pond was also stocked with one super large 23" trout! The big fish was tagged, and the lucky angler who caught it during the derby would get a special prize, courtesy of Ted's Bait and Tackle in Old Saybrook. Thanks to Ted's, the lucky fisherman would get a generous gift certificate, and a very nice salt water rod and reel. This big fish was not caught during the derby so it might still be swimming around in the pond.
The pond was stocked with about 200 fish ranging in size from 13"-23". The annual derby is open to all area youth ages 5-15. Prizes are awarded to biggest catch in each of three age categories; with one prize awarded to 'Biggest overall' catch
