Deep River Celebrates the 75th Anniversary of Our New Name!

Celebrate!

Deep River Celebrates 75 Years with a New Name.

This year, Deep River will be celebrating the 75th anniversary of its official establishment, in 1947, as Deep River.  As the last remaining portion of the original settlement of the Saybrook Colony, we changed our name from Saybrook to Deep River effective July 1, 1947.  A number of events are being planned. We would like you to be part of it!

Time Capsule

On Deep River Day, September 17th, we will be celebrating this anniversary with a time capsule at Town Hall.  The time capsule is expected to be buried on Memorial Day 2023 when Deep River celebrates the 100th anniversary of the dedication of The Eagle on the Town Green. It is our hope that 75 years from now, the residents of Deep River will open the time capsule and learn about us.

We are asking Deep River residents, kids and adults, to suggest items to be placed in the capsule. In addition to selected items, the full list of suggestions will be placed in the tube. We invite you to make suggestions and/or to write a short note to be put in the capsule. What would you like to say to someone who is living here 75 years from now? What would you ask them? Please keep it friendly and civil!

All suggestions and notes must be received at Town Hall by September 1st.

Thanks for being part of this!
