Deep River remains under Stage 2 drought conditions

Announcement

Despite the recent rainfall, Deep River remains under Stage 2 drought conditions.

To avoid further stressing water supplies & other impacts of drought, we are asking that you voluntarily take the following measures:
• Reduce, to the extent possible, the watering of lawns, recreational and athletic fields, gardens, or other landscaped areas
• Avoid burning in or near woodlands or brushlands
• Report dry fire/irrigation ponds or private wells to municipal drought liaisons or regional emergency management liaisons
• Postpone the planting of new lawns or vegetation
• Minimize overall water use by fixing leaky plumbing & fixtures
• Take shorter showers
• Run dishwashers and clothes washing machines with full loads
• Shut off water while washing dishes, shaving, brushing teeth, & lathering up to wash hands, rather than running the water continuously
• Avoid washing vehicles or power-washing homes & other buildings
• Do not use water to clean sidewalks, driveways, & roads
• Do not use public water to fill residential swimming pools

In my role as "nagger in chief" I feel compelled to remind everyone that COVID is still prevalent, with and despite the fact that most of us are vaccinated, please follow the traditional protocols we used throughout the pandemic & I urge you to follow CDC & DPH guidance. Please honor the wishes of your neighbors and local businesses requiring masks.

Be well, be safe, be kind
