Deep River Celebrates 75 Years of Independence.
sunshine

Although Deep River has been on the map as a named community for more than 150 years, it was originally part of greater Saybrook, settled as a colony in 1635. As other towns split away, Deep River became the last remaining community to be part of Saybrook. In 1947 it officially changed its name, yet continues to serve as the repository of Saybrook’s records going back to the colonial era.

The town was in fact named after the Deep River, a small but powerful tributary to the Connecticut River, which has helped drive centuries of manufacturing and innovation.  Deep River continues to honor its colonial legacy as it has evolved into a vibrant and modern community. We are proud to celebrate Deep River’s name, its history, its people, and its future!

Please join in the celebration on Saturday, 9/17/2022. Activities all day including a parade down Main Street beginning at 3:00pm.
