Deep River Celebrates 75 Years of Independence.
banner

In January of 1947 the Town of Saybrook petitioned the Connecticut General Assembly for a change of name, and in June of that same year a delegation of 50 Deep River citizens, from school children to selectmen, traveled to Hartford to witness Governor James McConaughy sign a bill that officially changed the name of our town from Saybrook to Deep River.

Please join us on Saturday, 9/17/2022, to celebrate Deep River Day sponsored by the Deep River Merchants Association and the Parks & Recreation Commission. There will be amazing activities, food, fun, games, a parade down Main Street at 3:00pm, and fireworks in the evening.
