A message from our Animal Control Officer regarding coyote sightings

NOTICE:
COYOTES HAVE BEEN REPORTED IN THE AREA
ATTENTION DOG WALKERS:
USE CAUTION
Coyotes are territorial and may aggressively approach dog walkers – especially in the spring/summer when raising young.
Dogs should be leashed or under close supervision at all times while outside.
IF APPROACHED, DO NOT RUN
Calmly leave the area
To frighten coyotes: shout, wave your arms and act aggressive, throw objects
Do NOT pick up your dog
COYOTES MAY EXHIBIT BOLD BEHAVIOR AROUND PEOPLE, HOWEVER AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOR TOWARDS PEOPLE IS RARE. ANY COYOTE ACTING AGGRESSIVELY TOWARDS PEOPLE OR SUPERVISED PETS SHOULD BE REPORTED TO YOUR LOCAL POLICE 860-526-6027 OR DEEP EnCON POLICE AT (860) 424-3333.
